Almost Christmas

            I haven't written anything for a while now, so why not start now.
Well, as you know we’re going to be (well actually Christians are) celebrating Christmas in 10 days. And again in the news, as what I've expected, are stories about how soldiers, cops and just fucking brimob are going to be guarding and are gonna be stationed at churches and other places where Christmas is going to be celebrated.

Now, in this day and age. Why do we keep doing this whole safety procedure , why are we even not safe yet? Well, it’s because of some people think that when Christians are celebrating the birth of Jesus and what not, their own religion is getting trampled and stepped on. And believe that they should put a stop to this by meas of coercion and violence.

Well despite all the negativity that is being thrown out of religious fundies, in Indonesia’s case, the Muslim extremists , towards the Christian community ; I believe that amidst the hate and resent that has been going on among the two factions in society , Muslims and Christians, I believe we could all work together.

Take this picture of Copts protecting Muslims while they pray in Egypt. If a country in turmoil can be like this, why can’t we?

So anyways, there is a bright future ahead for Indonesia. More and more of people, especially my generation, are being a lot more open minded than the generations before us. And it makes me happy to see that . Indonesia is beginning to be a decent, democratic country. Although I too believe the government and the systems here are fucked up, at least the people are not.

For the case of Muslim - Christian relationship, there can be cooperation between the two communities. I see more and more Christians attending celebrations by Muslims and Muslims attending Christian celebrations (althought the latter being not that popular). 

And since its almost Christmas, I’m wishing the best for all my Christian friends. Have fun, and although it maybe early to say this, Merry Christmas. Time to decorate your house, your yard, your face, your everything in the Christmas spirit. Start thinking of what to give to your family and friends. Maybe a brand new pipe for dad, or a that sweater that your sister talks about all the time, and some new supplements for your boxing coach. 

But nevertheless, decorating and gifts are nice. But nothing is better than decorating your heart and mind with the true spirit of Christmas. Remembering the birth of the Jesus as he is a model for all mankind, how he lived, and what he preached. And no gift is better than giving another person, and this may sound cheesy, love.

وَزَكَرِيَّا وَيَحْيَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَإِلْيَاسَ ۖ كُلٌّ مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
